SUPERCAMPIONI 2016

Per il Team Honda RedMoto è stato un fine settimana “ESALTANTE”. Alessandro Lupino, dopo il titolo 2015, si è riconfermato CAMPIONE ITALIANO dimostrando di essere uno dei piloti più veloci della sua categoria.

A dire il vero, sabato si avvertiva una certa tensione perché il divario fra Lupino e Philippaerts, l’unico che poteva contrastare il pilota delle FIAMME ORO, era veramente risicato: solo 58 punti. Però già dalla serata questa tensione è iniziata a svanire e sicuramente il PARTY che il Team ha organizzato a chiusura della stagione 2016 ma anche per festeggiare i neo sposi, ha stemprato la situazione. Nel fine settimana scorso, Alessandro Lupino e Daniele Castellini hanno portato all’altare le proprie compagne. Francesca per Alessandro e Simona per Daniele e questo ha sicuramente contribuito a rilassare tutto l’ambiente. Inutile dire che tutto il PADDOCK ha aderito ed i presenti erano veramente tanti, almeno 250 persone. Grande lo sforzo del Team Honda RedMoto che ha allestito sotto la propria Ospitality un buffet degno dei migliori PUB italiani.

Per quanto riguarda lo svolgimento delle due gare, c’è da sottolineare che già dalle prove del sabato la sfida fra Alessandro e Philippaerts si è dimostrata incandescente con David che faceva la POLE ma con Alessandro subito dietro.

Alla partenza di gara uno Lupino prende subito il comando mentre Philippaerts è sesto al primo passaggio. Alessandro resta in testa per ben tredici giri ma, in quel momento, il passo di del suo avversario è superiore. A tre giri dalla fine, Philippaerts passa Alessandro ed in un solo colpo recupera ben 40 punti.

Si va quindi allo start di gara due con pochi calcoli. Bisogna assolutamente VINCERE. Alessandro parte primo ed il suo avversario è soltanto nono. Mentre Lupino fa la sua gara, Philippaerts inizia una furiosa rimonta ma dopo 15 giri non cambia nulla. Alessandro ed il Team Honda RedMoto sono CAMPIONI.

A dimostrazione del suo stato di forma, Lupino fa sua anche la gara del SUPERCAMPIONE e dimostra che è competitivo e che senza alcuni piccoli problemi patiti quest’anno, anche il suo percorso nel Mondiale MXGP poteva essere diverso.

La stagione 2016 è finita ma non c’è tempo per rilassarsi. Il Team a breve riceverà le nuove Honda CRF450 versione 2017 ed inizieranno i test per la prossima stagione agonistica. Lupino, dopo una breve “LUNA DI MIELE”, inizierà la propria preparazione atletica per presentarsi in perfetta forma e poter conquistare nel Mondiale quelle posizioni che sono alla sua portata.

SUPERCHAMPIONS 2016

For Team Honda RedMoto was an “EXCITING” weekend. Alessandro Lupino, after 2015 title, confirmed himself as ITALIAN CHAMPION, demonstrating once again to be one of the fastest riders of his cathegory.

To be fair, on Saturday some stress could be felt in the air as the gap between Lupino and Philippaerts, the only one that could fight with FIAMME ORO’s rider, was very tight: only 58 points. Since that evening already, though, that stress started to disappear and surely the PARTY that the team organized for the end of 2016 season and for the newlyweds has made its part. Last weekend, in facts, Alessandro Lupino and Daniele Castellini got married with their ladies (Francesca with Alessandro and Simona with Daniele) so for sure that situation made things going smoother. All the PADDOCK took part of the party and it was so crowded – at least 250 people. It was a big effort for Team Honda RedMoto as they prepared, under their Ospitality, a buffet that could easily be compared to those which are made in the best Italian PUBS.

About the races: since Saturday’s practice, the challenge between Alessandro and Philippaerts was sparkly already, and David made the POLE while Alessandro was second.

When Race 1’s gate dropped, Lupino took the lead while Philippaerts was 6^th after the first lap. Alessandro led for thirteen laps but, in that moment, his opponent was faster. With three laps to go, Philippaerts overtook Alessandro and directly recovered 40 points in one shot.

At the start of Race 2 there was no room for numbers. TO WIN were the only words. Alessandro started in first position and his opponent was only 9^th. While Lupino was having his race, Philippaerts began a furious vamp but after 15 laps nothing changed. Alessandro and Team Honda RedMoto were THE CHAMPIONS.

To demonstrate how fast he was, Lupino won the SUPERCHAMPION Race as well, showing that he could be so competitive this year if he had not issues on his way, and his journey in MXGP World Championship could have been different too.

2016 season has finished but there is no time to relax. The Team will receive shortly the new Honda CRF450 2017 version and the tests for next season will start soon. Lupino, after a short “HONEYMOON”, will start his preparation to be in a perfect shape for the beginning of next World Championship, to be able to gain those results that he can easily reach.

IL TEAM HONDA REDMOTO IN SUPPORTO DI YAMAMOTO

La 70° edizione del Motocross of Nations è andata in scena sul tracciato del Mottaccio del Balmone di Maggiora. Più di 50.000 appassionati hanno fatto da contorno ad un evento che è ritornato su questa pista a 30 anni da una delle più famose edizione della storia di questo importante Trofeo.

Il Team Honda RedMoto è stato presente a supporto del suo pilota Kei Yamamoto, chiamato a far parte del Team Japan. Si dice che quando si rappresenta nello sport la propria Nazione, nascono nuovi stimoli e motivazioni e Yamamoto ha iniziato questo Motocross of Nations, facendo segnare tempi interessanti fin dalle prove libere, conquistando il 18esimo tempo.

Nella manche di qualifica della OPEN, Kei centra una eccezionale decima piazza a dimostrazione che la grinta e la determinazione non manca, così come non manca la velocità e la scelta delle traiettorie.

Nella manche riservata alla MX2 e alla Open, Yamamoto esce benissimo dal cancello di partenza ed infatti affronta la prima curva secondo. Purtroppo in un tornantino gli si spegne la moto e perde alcune posizioni. Questo gli fa perdere un po’ di concentrazione che non gli permette di andare oltre il 29esimo posto.

Nella MXGP “versus” Open, Yamamoto è 23esimo al primo passaggio. Rimonta qualche posizione ma la stanchezza e la pista molto segnata ne rallentano il ritmo. Chiude la prova 25°.

A fine giornata il Team Japan è diciottesimo assoluto e Yamamoto termina la sua esperienza in questa edizione del Motocross of Nations tredicesimo di categoria.

“Sono molto contento di questa giornata perché ho visto molto pubblico e tantissimo entusiasmo. Abbiamo fatto vedere che in Italia non esiste solo il calcio ma anche una specialità che si chiama Motocross. Noi siamo stati chiamati dalla Federazione Giapponese per gestire la presenza di Kei Yamamoto nel Team Japan. La prova di Kei ci è piaciuta, soprattutto la prima partenza dove è riuscito a partire addirittura secondo. Purtroppo dopo poche curve gli si è spenta la moto e ha dovuto recuperare. Abbiamo concluso il Mondiale con questa importantissima presenza per noi ed fra due domeniche ci aspetta l’ultima prova dell’italiano MX1/MX2 a Malpensa dove il nostro Alessandro Lupino è in lotta per la vittoria finale. TEAM HONDA RED MOTO SUPPORTED KEI YAMAMOTO

The 70^th Motocross of Nations took place on Mottaccio del Balmone’s Circuit in Maggiora (Italy). More than 50.000 supporters adorned an event that came back on this track since one of the most famous editions of this important Trophy 30 years ago.

Team Honda RedMoto was in Maggiora to support its rider Kei Yamamoto, who has been called from Team Japan. As they say, when you stand for your nation new boost and motivation come, and Yamamoto started the Motocross of Nations making interesting lap times since Free Practice, when he marked the 18^th place.

In OPEN Qualifying Race, Kei hit an excellent 10^th position, demonstrating strength and determination while showing great speed and trajectories.

In MX2 and Open Races, Yamamoto left the gate really well, in facts he was 2^nd after the first turn. Unluckily, in a hairpin the bike cut off the power and he lost some positions. What happened made him losing concentration too so he couldn’t make it better than the 29^th place.

In MXGP “versus” Open, Yamamoto was 23^rd after the first lap. He moved up some positions but the fatigue and the ruined surface slowed him down. He ended the race in 25^th position.

At the end of the day Team Japan was 18^th and Yamamoto finished his experience in Motocross of Nations in 13^th position in his cathegory.

“I am really happy about this day because I saw a lot of supporters and a lot of enthusiasm. We showed that in Italy there is not only Football but also what is called Motocross. We have been called from Japanese Federation to manage Kei Yamamoto’s race. We enjoyed Kei’s performance, especially the first start when he even made it to the second place after the first corner. Sul famoso e tecnico tracciato di Glen Helen si è corso l’ultimo appuntamento del Mondiale MXGP edizione 2016. E’ stato l’ultimo GP anche per il Team Honda RedMoto che con i suoi “alfieri”, dopo il GP di Charlotte della scorsa settimana, è riuscito a prendere punti: otto per Alessandro Lupino e due per Kei Yamamoto.

Il gran caldo ha condizionato non poco lo svolgimento delle due manche. Nella prima Lupino è diciottesimo al primo passaggio ma in un paio di giri, riesce a recuperare fino al quindicesimo posto. A metà gara il caldo si fa sentire ed Alessandro cala leggermente il ritmo cercando di arrivare al traguardo e prendere più punti che può. Kei Yamamoto parte intorno alla dodicesima piazza ma, nella sezione ritmata del tracciato, si scompone e perde quattro posizioni. Da quel momento non riesce più a trovare le linee giuste e taglia il traguardo ventesimo.

Per Lupino gara due va meglio. Il viterbese scatta nei primi venti e ed a metà gara si trova quindicesimo e mantiene dei bei tempi sul giro, al pari di piloti come Strijbos e Van Horebeek. Un errorino all’ultimo passaggio lo costringe alla sedicesima piazza finale. Da parte sua, Yamamoto fa una gara regolare che lo porta replicare il risultato di gara uno.

“Tutto sommato è stato un fine settimana discreto. Già dal sabato avevo un buon passo ed anche nella gara di qualifica ho avuto buone sensazioni. Oggi però ho fatto un po’ più fatica a prendere il ritmo, soprattutto in gara uno. Invece nella seconda mi sono divertito di più. Sono stato tutta la gara con Van Horebeek e Strijbos e questo significa che non andavo male. Questa stagione è stata per me difficile, venivo dall’operazione alla spalla sinistra e sono salito in moto soltanto a dicembre, perdendo di fatto buona parte della preparazione. Mi sono allenato tanto ma alle prime gare non ero pronto. Ho stretto i denti ed ho cercato di fare il meglio che potevo. La stagione è finita sempre in crescendo ed ora mi concentro sulle ultime due gare del Campionato Italiano dove sono al comando. Mi spiace non essere nella squadra azzurra per il Trofeo delle Nazioni ma voglio pensare già alla stagione prossima”.

LUPINO AND YAMAMOTO GET POINTS AGAIN

The last appointment of 2016 MXGP World Championship took place on the famous and technical track of Glen Helen. It was the last GP for Team Honda RedMoto too, and the riders, after last weekend’s Charlotte GP, gained points again: eight for Alessandro Lupino and two for Kei Yamamoto.

The hot weather conditioned a lot the execution of the races. In Race 1 Lupino was 18th after the first lap but in a couple of laps he moved up to the 15th place. In the middle of the race the heat was really high and Alessandro slowed down a little to arrive at the finish line and gain as many points as possible. Kei Yamamoto started around the 12th place but in the rithmical part of the track he broke down and lost four positions. Since that moment he couldn’t find the right trajectories again and he finished 20th.

For Lupino, Race 2 went better. He started in the Top 20 and after half of the race he was 15th, keeping some good lap times, as fast as riders like Strijbos and Van Horebeek. A little mistake in the last lap constrict him to end his race in 16th position. Yamamoto made a regular paced race and he repeated the same result of Race 1.

“At the end it was a decent weekend. Since Saturday I already had a good rhythm and in Qualifying Race I had good feelings too. Today, though, I struggled a little bit more to find the right race pace, especially in Race 1. In Race 2 I had more fun instead. I stayed for the whole race with Van Horebeek and Strijbos and this means that I wasn’t that bad. This season has been hard for me, I came from the left shoulder’s surgery and I jumped onto the bike on December only, losing a good part of the physical preparation. I trained a lot but I wasn’t ready for the first rounds. I clenched the teeth and I tried to do the best that I could. The season has finished in the right way, raising until the end and now I’m going to concentrate for the last two rounds of the Italian Championship where I’m in the lead. I’m sorry that I’m not going to be part of the Italian Team for Motocross of Nations but I want to start thinking about the next season already”.

A CHARLOTTE BUONA PRESTAZIONE

Il catino ovale del Dirt Track di Charlotte, nel North Carolina, è stato teatro del penultimo appuntamento del Mondiale MXGP e prima delle due tappe americane che chiuderanno il Campionato 2016.

Il programma del fine settimana, è stato condizionato dall’abbondante pioggia caduta nella giornata di venerdì (si è gareggiato di sabato), al punto che gli organizzatori, per non rovinare la pista, hanno deciso di spostare tutto la domenica, eliminando di fatto la gara di qualifica.

Ovviamente è anche diminuito il tempo per provare la pista che è stata creata artificialmente in stile Supercross e quindi diversa dai soliti classici tracciati. Questo però non ha impedito ad Alessandro Lupino e a  Kei Yamamoto di conquistare punti in entrambe le due manche.

Il migliore è stato Alessandro Lupino, che ha fine giornata si è piazzato diciassettesimo assoluto con sette punti al suo attivo, frutto di un 18esimo posto in gara uno ed un 17esimo in gara due.  Nella prima manche Alessandro transita ventesimo al primo passaggio, scivola il giro dopo di una posizione, ma poi riesce a trovare delle buone traiettorie e chiude 18esimo. In gara due ripete una buona partenza (è quindicesimo) ma dopo un piccolo errore, arretra di tre posizioni ma sotto la bandiera a scacchi è 17esimo.

Anche Yamamoto si è comportato bene nonostante la sua condizione fisica non è ancora al top. Kei ha affrontato il GP tenendo in considerazione che è rientrato lo scorso GP in Olanda, dopo una lunga assenza per infortunio ma nonostante tutto questo, è riuscito a centrare due buoni piazzamenti e prendersi quattro punti finali che danno sicuramente morale.

Dal North Carolina il Team Honda RedMoto si sposta in California sulla storica e classica pista di Glen Helen, per disputare l’ultimo GP della stagione MXGP 2016.

MXGP 2016 – AMERICAS 17^TH ROUND

YAMAMOTO AND LUPINO

In the oval bowl of Dirt Track in Charlotte, North Carolina, it took place the second to last appointment of MXGP 2016 World Championship. It was also the first of the two last american rounds of 2016 Championship.

The weekend’s program was conditioned by the heavy rain that dropped on Friday (the race took place on Saturday), so the organizers, trying to avoid ruining the track, decided to move everything on Sunday and they basically deleted Qualifying Race.

The time that the riders had to try the track was less too, even though the circuit was created on purpose in Supercross’ style and it was different than the others. Those things, however, didn’t obstruct Alessandro Lupino and Kei Yamamoto on gaining Championship points in both races.

The best was Alessandro Lupino, who at the end of the day gained the 17^th final position with 7 points for him, a product of 18^th place in Race 1 and 17^th place in Race 2. In the first one Alessandro was 20^th after the first lap and 21^st after the second but he then found good lines that allowed him to finish the race in 18^th position. In Race 2 he repeated the good start (he was 15^th) but after a little mistake he moved back three positions. At the finish line he was 17^th.

Yamamoto did a good race too, even though his body shape was not the best. Kei dealt with the GP considering that he came back on the tracks only one GP ago, in Holland, after a long absence for an injury, but despite of that he conquered two good placements and he gained 4 Championship points which will give him a good mood for the last round.

From North Carolina Team Honda RedMoto will now move to California on the historical and classy circuit of Glen Helen for the last GP of 2016 MXGP season.

DURO WEEK END PER IL TEAM HONDA REDMOTO

Il GP d’Olanda che si è corso questo fine settimana, è l’ultimo appuntamento europeo del Mondiale MXGP. Infatti, le restanti due prove saranno in terra americana e più precisamente a Charlotte, sabato prossimo, e a Glen Helen domenica 11 settembre. Il circuito di Assen, teatro di epici duelli nella moto velocità, ha ospitato il sedicesimo GP su un tracciato sabbioso, realizzato appositamente di fronte alla tribuna centrale, davanti a 15.000 spettatori.

Dopo aver saltato tre gare a causa di un infortunio subito durante un allenamento, Kei Yamamoto fa il suo ritorno alle competizioni. Condizionato ancora da una preparazione fisica non al top, Yamamoto è sceso in pista nella giornata di sabato e dopo una attenta analisi con i responsabili del Team Honda RedMoto, ha deciso di non prendere parte alle gare della domenica per non compromettere le restanti prove del Mondiale.

Alessandro Lupino è quindi stato il solo a prendere parte a tutte le gare del week end, che è iniziato con le prove libere del sabato, dove Alessandro ha staccato il 26esimo tempo che ha poi migliorato di due posizioni nelle CRONO.

Le qualifiche sono andate meglio e lo si è visto anche dai tempi che Lupino è riuscito a fare. Partito a metà gruppo, Alessandro ha trovato un buon ritmo risalendo qualche posizione ma, proprio verso la conclusione, ha commesso un paio di sbavature ed ha terminato 17esimo.

Gara uno è stata fortemente condizionata dall’abbondante pioggia che è caduta a metà mattina ed ha creato solchi e canali che hanno reso il tracciato ancora più insidioso. La partenza era quindi un fattore importante perché scattare “dietro” voleva dire subire tutto quello che le moto davanti sollevavano al loro passaggio. Purtroppo lo start di  Alessandro non è stato dei migliori. Transitato 21esimo al primo passaggio, Lupino non è riuscito ad emergere dalle retrovie e chiude 24esimo. Meglio la seconda prova dove parte bene e si posiziona 20esimo e conquistare punti in campionato.

Ora si mette tutto l’occorrente nelle casse che in nottata saranno spedite in America per le ultime due prove di questo Mondiale 2016.

”E’ stato un fine settimana intenso per via del terreno non era sicuramente dei più facili. Sabato Yamamoto è caduto ed ha subito un altro colpo alla spalla che lo ha tenuto lontano dalle gare per alcuni GP. Dopo una attenta analisi abbiamo deciso di non farlo correre per non compromettere la fine di una stagione per lui molto sfortunata. Per quanto riguarda Alessandro Lupino ha fatto una buona prova. Sicuramente un buon allenamento in previsione della doppia trasferta americana. In gara uno si è dovuto amministrare perché il terreno era veramente difficile per la pioggia caduta. In gara due l’ho visto più determinato e aggressivo. Ora ci attende la parte finale della stagione Mondiale con le due gare negli States dove ci auguriamo di ottenere dei buoni risultati”.

MXGP 2016 – HOLLAND GP 16^TH ROUND

HARD WEEKEND FOR TEAM HONDA RED MOTO

Gp of Holland, that took place last weekend, was the last european appointment for MXGP World Championship. In facts, the remaining two rounds will take place in America, precisely at Charlotte, next Saturday, and at Glen Helen on Sunday the 11^th of September. Assen circuit, which is a theatre where epic moments happened in MotoGP, hosted the 16^th round on a sand-surfaced track that has been made on purpose in front of the main tribune, with 15.000 people of audience.

After that he stopped for three races because of an injury suffered during training, Kei Yamamoto went back on the track. His shape wasn’t the best, so he rode his bike on Saturday, but after a briefing with all the managers of Team Honda RedMoto, he decided not to race on Sunday, to avoid compromising the remaining rounds of the World Championship.

Alessandro Lupino was the only rider deployed for all the weekend’s races, and the weekend started with Free Practice on Saturday when Alessandro got the 26^th position. In Timed Practice he improved a few positions.

Qualifying race was better, and it could be seen from the improvement of his lap times. He started around the middle of the group, but he then found a good race pace and he moved up a few positions. When he was close to the finish he made a couple of mistakes and he finished 17^th.

Race 1 was hardly conditioned by the rain that dropped in the middle of the morning, which created ruts that made the track even more difficult. The start was a proper factor, because starting in the back would have meant to get all the dirt raised by the bikes in the front. Unluckily the beginning of the race was not the best for Alessandro. After the first lap he was 21^st but he didn’t find the right pace and he finished 24^th. Race 2 was better, he finished 20^th and he gained championship points.

Now everything will be put in boxes, ready to be sent in America tonight, for the last two rounds of 2016 World Championship.

“It was an intense weekend because of the surface, which was not one of the easiests. On Saturday Yamamoto crashed and he suffered another bruise at the shoulder that kept him away for some GPs. After an accurate analysis we decided not to let him race, we didn’t want to compromise the end of his already unlucky season. About Alessandro Lupino, he made a good round. Of course a good training before the transfer in America. In race 1 he had to manage the situation, the surface was really hard because of the rain. In race 2 I saw him more determinate and more aggressive. We are now looking forward to the end of the season and the last two GPs of the World Championship, where we hope to obtain good results.”

OTTIMO WEEK END PER ALESSANDRO LUPINO

Dopo quindici anni il Circus del Mondiale MXGP ritorna in terra Svizzera su un tracciato “artificiale” ma ben preparato dagli organizzatori.

Buona la prestazione di Alessandro Lupino che, finalmente, riscatta le opache prestazioni degli ultimi due GP.

Alessandro predilige queste piste e l’undicesimo tempo fatto registrare nelle prime prove libere, l’ha messo di buon umore trasferendo anche entusiasmo a tutto il Team Honda Red Moto.

Nelle “CRONO” si conferma al quindicesimo posto che sarà poi lo stesso piazzamento che della gara della qualifica.

Si vede che in questo fine settimana, il 15 è suo numero perché dopo i due piazzamenti delle cronometrate e della qualifica, arriva un altro quindicesimo posto nella manche di apertura mentre in gara due, migliora di una posizione e chiude 14esimo.

“Nonostante la pioggia caduta giovedì e venerdì, la pista ha tenuto ed ho avuto buone sensazioni già dalla prima uscita in pista. Dopo Lommel ho fatto degli esami ed hanno trovato dei valori bassi di ferro e vitamina B12 che sono fondamentali per la resistenza fisica ed è per questa che nello scorso GP ero veramente stanco. Ho iniziato a curarmi e già questo fine settimana mi sento già meglio. Infatti ho spinto in tutte e due le manche ed è venuto fuori un discreto risultato. “Sono contento dell’ottima prestazione di Alessandro. Ha centrato due piazzamenti nei primi quindici ma soprattutto l’ho visto guidare molto meglio rispetto ai GP di Loket e Lommel. La pista venerdì sembrava un disastro a causa della pioggia caduta con intensità, invece oggi era in perfette condizioni. Questo risultato ci ricarica e guardiamo ai prossimi GP con fiducia. Ora abbiamo un stop di un paio di settimane, poi affronteremo la fase finale del Mondiale e dell’Italiano dove attualmente siamo in testa nella MX1”.

EXCELLENT WEEKEND FOR ALESSANDRO LUPINO

After fifteen years, the Circus of MXGP World Championship went back to Switzerland, on an “artificial” but well prepared track.

Good result for Alessandro Lupino who, finally, redeemed the dull perfomances of the last two GPs.

Alessandro likes this kind of surfaces, and the 11^th place in Free Practice confirmed that, and his good mood and his enthusiasm were transferred to all the members of Team Honda Red Moto.

In “Timed Practice” he made the 15^th lap time, which would have been the same position of Qualifying Race.

“Fifteen” was Lupino’s number of the weekend, as after those placements in Timed Practice and in Qualifying Race, he made the 15^th  place in Race 1 as well while in Race 2 he improved by one place and he finished 14^th.

“Despite of the rain that dropped on Thursday and Friday, the surface kept good conditions and I had good feelings since the first time on the track. After Lommel I did some medical exams that showed that I had lack of Iron and B12 vitamin, which are primary for the physical resistance, so that’s why in the past GP I was really tired. I started the treatment and since this weekend already I feel better. In facts I pushed hard in both races and the result was alright. I needed that because I had to boost my mood and the mood of the Team too, which always supported me, especially Diego, my mechanic. I’m now going to have 5 days of holidays and after that I will move to Belgium to get good training looking forward Assen Race”.

“I’m happy for Alessandro’s great performance. He made two good placements in TOP 15, but most of all I saw him riding the bike really better than the GPs of Loket and Lommel. The track on Friday looked like a disaster because of the heavy rain, but today it was in perfect conditions. This result boosts our mood and we are now looking forward the next GPs with confidence. We have now a stop of two weeks, and then we are going to deal with the finals of World Championship and Italian Championship where at the moment we are leading in MX1”.

Dai piloti e dagli addetti ai lavori, il tracciato di Lommel viene indicato come “L’INFERNO di SABBIA”. E’ la corretta definizione per una pista che non da respiro e che giro dopo giro si scava, con buche così profonde che quasi bisogna fermarsi per passarle. Non esistono traiettorie e ad ogni passaggio quello che si affronta con la ruota davanti della propria moto, è una cosa nuova.

Se non sei nativo di queste parti, girare su questi tracciati è davvero difficile. Non è un caso che anche piloti di alto livello, trovino enormi difficoltà.

Il fine settimana del Team Honda Red Moto è iniziato con attenzione studiando ad ogni sessione di prove, i cambiamenti della pista.

Per Alessandro Lupino, le prove libere del sabato mattina iniziano con il 27° tempo e proseguono con il 29° in quelle cronometrate. Nella gara di qualifica del pomeriggio Alessandro, non avendo un’ottima posizione al cancello, è costretto a schierarsi tutto esterno. Nonostante ciò, riesce a recuperare alcune posizioni ma il traffico in pista è tanto e superare è difficile. Al termine dei venti minuti più due giri è 27°.

Nelle due gare della domenica, si prova a cambiare qualcosa nel SETTING della sua Honda CRF 450 R’16, ma la situazione non migliora. In gara uno da 31esimo, arriva 24esimo avvicinando la zona punti. Nella seconda manche scatta 26esimo ma dopo un paio di passaggi prende la via dei box.

Come abbiamo scritto in apertura, Lommel è un tracciato tosto e molto difficile, da affrontare con la giusta determinazione, altrimenti ti “sottomette”. Abbiamo visto “specialisti” della sabbia andare in confusione e guidare con difficoltà, per cui il Lupo ha preferito visti i problemi accusati nei turni precedenti, di non compromettere la fine stagione con cadute che portano ad infortuni certi e restare fuori zona punti significava solamente rischiare senza portare nessun vantaggio alla classifica ne alla squadra, pertanto la scelta è stata quella di fermarsi e concentrarsi sul prossimo GP in Svizzera domenica prossima.

E’ stato un GP avaro per quanto riguarda il risultato finale, ma buono per l’allenamento che di sicuro servirà il prossimo fine settimana quando sarà il momento di scendere in pista per il GP di Svizzera.

HELL OF SAND FOR ALESSANDRO LUPINO

Lommel track is called, from riders and insiders, the “HELL OF SAND”. This is the right definition for a circuit where riders never have time to breath and where, lap by lap, ruts become so worse that the bikes almost have to stop to pass by. There are no right paths, every lap has a new surface and trajectories.

If you are not a native, riding the bike on this circuit is really hard. No wonder if even the most expert riders find Lommel so hard.

Team Honda Red Moto weekend started with attention to all practice’s sessions and all the circuit’s changes.

For Alessandro Lupino Saturday’s Free Practice began with the 27^th position and continued with the 29^th in Timed Practice. In Qualifying Race Alessandro didn’t have a good gate to start from, so he was forced to start from the very external place. Despite of that he moved up and recovered a few positions but the track was so crowded and it was hard to overtake. At the end of 20 minutes plus 2 laps he was 27^th.

In Sunday’s races the mechanics made a few changes of the SETTING of his Honda CRF 450 R’16, but the situation didn’t improve. In Race 1, from the 31^st place he recovered until the 24^th, getting closer to the “points-area”. In Race 2 he started in 26^th place but after a couple of laps he had to come back to the pit lane.

As said above, Lommel is a tough and very hard circuit, that has to be faced with the right determination, otherwise it will submit the rider. We saw expert riders becoming confused and riding with difficulties, so “Il Lupo”, considering the issues that he had in the whole weekend, preferred to not compromise his final part of the season with crashes that could have caused injuries. As he would have had to stay on the track without competing for Championship points and with no benefit for him and for the Team, they all decided to stop and think about next weekend’s round in Switzerland.

It was not a good round if we were only considering the final results, though it was a good training that Alessandro will use for the next weekend, when it will be time to go on the track for Switzerland GP.
